The City of Elkton is accepting sealed bids for the sale the following:

  • 1998 Ford F800 Water Tanker

The truck is in excellent condition, has approximately 7,000 actual miles and is equipped as follows

  • Cummins 5.9L Turbocharged 6 cylinder motor
  • 5 Speed manual transmission with 2 speed rear axle
  • GVWR 35,000 (12,000 front, 23,000 rear)
  • Like new 11R22.5 Tires
  • 50 Gallon fuel tank
  • 1800 gallon all stainless steel water tank
  • 10” x 10” quick dump valve
  • 2.5” direct tank fill with ball valve
  • All aluminum tank surround with 4 storage compartments
  • Fold down storage for 2100 gallon portable water tank (portable tank NOT included)
  • 200 Gallon per minute fire pump powered by 18Hp Briggs and Stratton motor

This vehicle was replaced with funding through the Federal Emergency Management Agencies Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.  Per the requirements of this program the City of Elkton cannot sell, donate or otherwise transfer ownership of this vehicle to any individual or organization who intends to utilize it in an emergency response capacity.  Successful bidders will be required to verify their compliance with this restriction in writing prior to transfer of the vehicle.

Sealed bids must be clearly marked as “Sealed Bid – Water Tanker” and submitted to City Clerk, City of Elkton, PO Box 578, Elkton, Kentucky, 42220, or delivered to Elkton City Hall, 71 Public Square, Elkton, Kentucky, by 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2018.  Bids will be opened and publicly read aloud at this time with final determination of winner to be made by the Elkton City Council at their next public meeting. The City of Elkton reserves the right to accept any bid, to reject any or all bids, and to waive any technicality or informality in bidding or bids received, where such acceptance, rejection, or waiver is considered to be in the best interest of the city.
