Historia
In 1819 stagecoach operator Major John Gray donated land for the City of Elkton. In 1820, Elkton was established and because it was located in the center of Todd County, Major Gray believed it should be the county seat. Gray’s plan called for the town to radiate from a two acre square. In 1835 a courthouse was erected in the center of this square. The “Old Courthouse” is the second oldest courthouse in the state. This monument, still the centerpiece of town, stands proudly to welcome everyone that enters our warm, friendly community Today, Elkton is a small community of approximately 1,984 citizens. Elkton is a slow paced town with all the advantages of being near larger cities.
