Under general administrative supervision, assists the Chief of Police performing secretarial and clerical functions necessary for support of the department and performs related work as required. General duties of this position include processing police department records and reports; responding to a wide variety of customer service requests for information; ability to positively interact with community members and professionals from other government agencies; performs general office support duties such as operating standard office equipment; serves as purchasing agent, responsible for all department purchases.
Requirements include High School diploma or equivalent; strong computer and organizational skills; proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook preferred; 1 year secretarial or clerical experience, preferably in municipal government and knowledge of basic law enforcement organization, activities, terminology and rules and procedures; offer of employment conditional upon ability to become a notary public and bonded; after an offer of employment is made, must pass any job-related screenings, including screening tests for illegal drug use and background check prior to employment. This position will also be appointed as Elkton Zoning Administrator, Citation Officer and Elkton Alcoholic Beverage Control Administrator. Duties for these positions are available upon request.
The minimum starting pay for Police Records Clerk will be $16.72 per hour, and other benefits include complete coverage of employee’s health, dental and life insurance and participation in the Kentucky Retirement System.
