The City of Elkton is accepting applications for a full-time Maintenance Worker position in the Utility/Street Department.  Applicants with Class II Water Distribution License may qualify for Maintenance Worker II position with starting hourly wage of $17.55. Applicants without Class II Water Distribution License begin as Maintenance Worker I position with starting wage of $16.06 per hour. The city also provides other benefits including complete coverage of employee’s health, dental and life insurance.

Employees generally begin as Maintenance Worker I, and may be promoted to Maintenance Worker II after receipt of Class II Water Distribution License. Position performs manual skilled and semi-skilled work of routine and moderate difficulty in the construction, installation, maintenance and/or cleanliness of the wastewater treatment plant, wastewater collection system, water distribution system, and parks, assists with maintaining and cleaning streets and roads; performs related work as required. Work is physically demanding, involving heavy lifting, shoveling, digging, etc. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Utility/Streets Superintendent.  Applicants must be a high school graduate or have a GED and have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Screening tests for illegal drug use is required prior to employment after an offer for employment is made and during employment with the city.
