The City of Elkton is accepting applications for a full-time Maintenance Worker position in the Utility/Street Department. Applicants without Class II Water Distribution License begin at the Maintenance Worker position with starting wage of $16.72 per hour. Applicants with Class II Water Distribution License may qualify for Maintenance Worker III position with starting hourly wage of $18.27. The city also provides other benefits including complete coverage of employee’s health, dental and life insurance and participation in the Kentucky Retirement Systems. Position performs manual skilled and semi-skilled work of routine and moderate difficulty in the construction, installation, maintenance and/or cleanliness of the wastewater treatment plant, wastewater collection system, water distribution system, and parks, assists with maintaining and cleaning streets and roads; performs related work as required. Work is physically demanding, involving heavy lifting, shoveling, digging, etc. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Public Works Director.
Applicants must be a high school graduate or have a GED and have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Background check and screening tests for illegal drug use are required prior to employment after an offer for employment is made and during employment with the city.
