City Council

The form of government for the City of Elkton is known as the “Mayor-Council Plan.” This plan of government consists of an elected executive, the Mayor, and an elected legislative body, the City Council. There are six members of the City Council.

Doug Gibson
Doug Gibson is a lifelong resident of Todd County. He worked at the concrete plant in Elkton for over 45 years under three different owners, most recently Irving Materials (IMI). Doug is married to Sue Gibson and has two daughters and the proud grandfather of three handsome grandsons. Mr. Gibson serves as the Street Department liaison.
Eugene Jefferson
Eugene Jefferson has served on the Elkton City Council for almost 30 years. He is retired from Emerson Electric after working there for nearly 40 years. Mr. Jefferson serves as the Police Department liaison.
Danny Laster
Danny O. Laster has been a local insurance agent with American General for many years. He is married with two grown children and five grandchildren. He has lived in Elkton for over 35 years and serves as Boy Scout Leader in Todd County.  Mr. Laster serves as the Utility Department liaison.
David Powell
David Powell is a life long resident of Todd County and currently resides on Howard Circle with his wife Sue and children. David works at Logan Aluminum and serves as the Fire Department liaison.

Cindy Sidebottom
Cindy Sidebottom is serving her third term on the city council. She is a medical technologist at Gateway Hospital in Clarksville, Tennessee. Cindy has one daughter, Grace Elizabeth. She is the cemetery liaison and welcomes all concerns and comments on the cemetery. Cindy resides at 407 South Main Street and can be reached at 265-2109 or by e-mail.

Jimmy Scott
Jimmy Scott is serving his third term on the City Council.  Jimmy represents the city on the Recreation Commission.
