The City of Elkton, Kentucky is now accepting applications for the full-time position of Utility Clerk. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
About the Position: Under the supervision of the City Clerk/Treasurer, the Utility Clerk provides excellent customer service and performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties related to the City’s water, sewer, and garbage services. This position also assists with accounts receivable/payable, record keeping, and daily office operations.
Key Responsibilities Include:

Assisting customers in person, by phone, and by email

Receiving and processing utility payments

Maintaining accurate financial and utility records

Preparing new utility accounts and billing
-
Balancing cash drawers and preparing deposits
-
Filing, scanning, and maintaining city records
-
Assisting with reports, correspondence, and office projects
-
Supporting cemetery records and other assigned duties
Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent
-
One year of related work experience
-
Strong customer service, organizational, and computer skills

Ability to handle money accurately and maintain confidentiality
Advancement Opportunities:

Promotion to Utility Clerk I after one year of service
-
Opportunity to advance to Utility Clerk, CKMC upon completion of Certified Kentucky Municipal Clerk certification (optional)
Pay Grade: 16
This is a non-exempt position that requires bonding and the ability to work in a busy office environment.
