Elkton City Government Buildings Closure

In order to protect the health, safety, and welfare of city employees and the citizens of Elkton, and for the purposes of maintaining social distancing under the CDC guidelines to reduce the community spread of COVID-19, a respiratory disease that can easily spread from person to person, please be advised of the following:

1. All city buildings providing city government services shall be closed to the public effective immediately until further notice. All city employees will be working normal business hours and will be available to assist you by email or phone at the following:

i. Elkton City Hall and Elkton Utilities – cityhall@elktonky.com – 270-265-9877
ii. Elkton Police Department – mwillenborg@elktonky.com – 270-265-9879
iii. Wastewater Treatment Plant – 270-265-5703
iv. Welcome Center – welcomecenter@elktonky.com – 270-265-7070

2. City employees are prohibited from providing nonessential in-person city government services outside of government buildings. In the limited circumstances where in-person services are required, city employees should engage in social distancing as defined by the CDC. The Elkton Police Department will continue to provide 24-hour law enforcement services and security checks but has issued additional precautions in a separate notice from Police Chief Robert Toombs.

3. While City Hall is closed to the public, you may still make service order requests by calling City Hall.

4. City Hall and Elkton Utilities customers can continue to make payments as follows:

i. Mail check and money order payments and other correspondence to: Elkton City Hall and Utilities, PO Box 578, Elkton, KY 42220.
ii. Drop off check and money order payments in the City Hall foyer located in the lobby area of City Hall at 71 Public Square.
iii. Make credit and debit card payments online at www.elktonky.com/utilities. The city is working on a new payment site that will temporarily waive the convenience fee to use online payments and will be available as soon as possible.
iv. Credit and debit card payments may also be made over the phone. Once again, the convenience fee for payments over the phone has been temporarily waived.

Once again, please feel free to contact city government agencies if you need any assistance.

Dated this 18th day of March 2020,
